Showing poultry offers youth a unique and rewarding experience in the livestock program. Unlike other species, all broilers and turkeys must be ordered through the Extension Office and arrive on the same day from Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, creating an even playing field for every exhibitor. Youth then dedicate themselves to the daily care, feeding, and management of their birds as they prepare for competition at the Gillespie County Youth Livestock Show or at major shows across Texas. In the end, the hard work and attention to detail of the exhibitor truly shine through in the show ring.
