Join us for Building Your 4-H Career, a virtual program designed for parents of youth in 5th–11th grade. Learn how to help your child create a unique and meaningful 4-H experience that prepares them for success both in 4-H and beyond. We’ll discuss how everyday project work, leadership, and community service build toward a competitive scholarship application and ensure youth get the most out of their 4-H journey.

As 4-H members mature in age, they will have the opportunity to run for an officer position on the county council.  County council members represent Gillespie 4-H at district events, and serve our local clubs by making important decisions and passing on information at quarterly meetings.

Application process includes an application, interview and popular vote at the April County Council Meeting.

Senior 4-H members can also run for a position on the District 10 Council.  These officers represent District 10 at state 4-H events and work with our district specialists for events and leadership meeting.  The election of officers for the District 10 4-H Council will take place at Leadership Lab held in June each summer.

To be eligible for an office, 4-Hers must have attended District Leadership Lab at least one year prior to running for office.

The District 10 4-H Spring Roundup event  to allow 4-H members to showcase their knowledge and talents in various 4-H contests. All District 10 4-H members who are enrolled for the current year and are in grades 3rd-12th are invited to participate.

Leadership Lab is our annul leadership camp for 4-H members ages 13-18. This event provides a variety of leadership, recreation, and project enhancement workshops that participants are challenged to take back to their own county and implement. District 4-H Council Delegates from the 21 counties are highly encouraged to attend and participate in the District 4-H Council Business Meeting which includes the election of the District Council Officers for the new 4-H year. Candidates for District 4-H Council will present their campaign speech & participate in a Q&A session in front of the voting delegates. We are excited to announce we will be hosting the 2027 at the Texas 4-H Conference Center in Brownwood, TX! All District 4-H Council officers plus County Delegate representatives should attend this event. All participants must be at least 13 years of age by the date of the Leadership Lab. Graduating seniors for the 2026-2027 4-H year may attend.

GLOBE is a multi-faceted, year-long program that explores culture, poverty, sustainable agriculture, leadership, and service-learning, open to 4-H members in grades 8-12. The 2026-2027 cohort will have three in-person activities, a webinar series, and a self-directed service-learning project.

The 2026–2027 Norman Borlaug Youth in Agriculture Program, is a rigorous six-month experience that brings some of Texas’ strongest rural youth leaders together with exceptional urban students to tackle complex challenges facing agriculture and the future of Texas. Students who successfully complete the program and course requirements earn 3 Texas A&M University college credits and a $5,000 educational grant.

Texas A&M AgriLife Research is currently recruiting families for an NIH-funded research study focused on middle schoolers’ social media use and mental health.

Families may be eligible to participate if their child:

• Is in 6th–8th grade;

• Lives in Texas;

• Is the sole user of an Android smartphone; and

• Uses social media at least once a week.

Participating families can earn up to $55 total.

Texas A&M AgriLife Research is inviting high school students to apply to serve on the Youth Advisory Board of an NIH-funded research project focused on social media use and mental health. Youth Advisory Board members will help university researchers improve the relevance, clarity, and appropriateness of study materials and outreach strategies for teens and families.

This opportunity may be a good fit for high school students who:

• Are in 9th–12th grade;

• Are interested in mental health, social media, leadership, or research;

• Want to share youth perspectives with university researchers; and

• Can attend monthly one-hour online meetings.

Youth advisors will receive $20 for each meeting they attend.

This day is designed for 4-H members to learn more about our state legislative process, see our legislators in session, and to visit with their respective elected officials.  This event happens every other year on the odd numbered years.  The event is limited to the first 250 youth who register and is available for 4H members in grades 3-12.

Open to senior level  4-H members.  Texas 4-H Congress is an educational program focused on leadership, citizenship, cultural heritage and career exploration.  Texas 4-H Congress allows 4-H members to experience the law making process first hand by writing, submitting, and then serving as a member of the House of Representatives, the Senate, the Press, or as a Lobbyist. From these roles, the 4-H members determine the fate of each bill submitted. Congress is a 4-H Legislative program held in even years in Austin.

CORE Academy is an educational and explorative opportunity for Senior aged youth to gain awareness to an assortment of possible careers. 

Application fee: $250 per member (includes hotel lodging, meals, transportation & activities).

Usually held in late November in Atlanta, GA.  Unlike any other 4-H event, National 4-H Congress allows you to experience your world, our world, through different opportunities such as workshops, culture experiences, speakers, and meet-and-greets!  National 4-H Congress is a five-day event that engages high school aged 4-H members in leadership, citizenship, global awareness, and inclusion.  Participants not only have the opportunity to participate in state-of-the-art educational workshops and hear from world-renowned speakers, they also have the opportunity to network with other 4-H members from across the United States.
