Join us for Building Your 4-H Career, a virtual program designed for parents of youth in 5th–11th grade. Learn how to help your child create a unique and meaningful 4-H experience that prepares them for success both in 4-H and beyond. We’ll discuss how everyday project work, leadership, and community service build toward a competitive scholarship application and ensure youth get the most out of their 4-H journey.

As 4-H members mature in age, they will have the opportunity to run for an officer position on the county council. County council members represent Gillespie 4-H at district events, and serve our local clubs by making important decisions and passing on information at quarterly meetings.
Application process includes an application, interview and popular vote at the April County Council Meeting.

Senior 4-H members can also run for a position on the District 10 Council. These officers represent District 10 at state 4-H events and work with our district specialists for events and leadership meeting. The election of officers for the District 10 4-H Council will take place at Leadership Lab held in June each summer.
To be eligible for an office, 4-Hers must have attended District Leadership Lab at least one year prior to running for office.

This year we will be featuring Anglers and Clover Kids on our Facebook page with the First Fish Species Caught spotlight.
New fish species permitted in the tournaments include Rio Grande Cichlids and Black Drum.
The 2026-27 HTYA Application is now open! Looking for a new way to engage high school youth in health education, nutrition and health projects, and leadership? If so, consider becoming a Healthy Texas Youth Ambassador! Healthy Texas Youth Ambassadors assist County Extension agents in providing valuable health education to youth and adults within the community. Working alongside their agent, they can become a valuable part of the local Texas A&M AgriLife and Texas 4-H Youth Development team! Reminder: Returning Ambassadors must reapply.

The Texas 4-H Council is a team of 4-H members elected by their peers from across the state of Texas representing the twelve AgriLife Extension districts plus an additional six At-Large Delegates, elected by any Senior level 4-H member across the state.
4-H members running as At-Large and District candidates must read the contract and agree to it before running for one of the positions that serves on the Texas 4-H Council. The mandatory July Council Training is scheduled for Monday, July 27 through Thursday, July 30, likely in College Station at our new State 4-H Headquarters or the East Texas area (depending on our move-in date). Additional details about these dates and other dates for the year can be found in the contract.

The Texas 4-H program is proud to announce the 2026 States' 4-H international Exchange Summer Hosting Program! For over 20 years, Texan families have opened their hearts and homes to international youth across the globe, sharing our rich Texan culture and learning about theirs. Interested host families & host siblings must commit to a 4-week homestay for a Japanese youth (12-18 yrs.). The host period will take place over the summer (July 21-August 16, 2026). *Note: Host families/siblings are not required to be 4-H members. Families must have a child of the same gender and within 4 yrs. of the hosted youth. Families without children may host an adult chaperone for a 2-week or 4-week homestay. Youth have a range of English language abilities, so host families should be prepared to communicate imaginatively.

Open to senior level 4-H members. Texas 4-H Congress is an educational program focused on leadership, citizenship, cultural heritage and career exploration. Texas 4-H Congress allows 4-H members to experience the law making process first hand by writing, submitting, and then serving as a member of the House of Representatives, the Senate, the Press, or as a Lobbyist. From these roles, the 4-H members determine the fate of each bill submitted. Congress is a 4-H Legislative program held in even years in Austin.
2026: July 19 - 22, 2026
This day is designed for 4-H members to learn more about our state legislative process, see our legislators in session, and to visit with their respective elected officials. This event happens every other year on the odd numbered years. The event is limited to the first 250 youth who register and is available for 4H members in grades 3-12.
Usually held in late November in Atlanta, GA. Unlike any other 4-H event, National 4-H Congress allows you to experience your world, our world, through different opportunities such as workshops, culture experiences, speakers, and meet-and-greets! National 4-H Congress is a five-day event that engages high school aged 4-H members in leadership, citizenship, global awareness, and inclusion. Participants not only have the opportunity to participate in state-of-the-art educational workshops and hear from world-renowned speakers, they also have the opportunity to network with other 4-H members from across the United States.
Texas 4-H Night at NASA is back!
The Texas 4-H STEM Ambassadors are hosting another exciting overnight experience at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston on March 7–8, 2026! This event is open to all junior, intermediate, and senior 4-H members and their parent/guardian. Participants will explore space science and dive into hands-on STEM activities.
Registration Info:
-Opens December 15 on 4HOnline (required for all youth and adults).
-After completing 4HOnline registration, families will receive an automatic email with the link to register and pay through NASA’s portal.
-Both registrations are required, and 4HOnline closes January 15, 2026—no exceptions.
-Adults must have completed all screenings and required trainings.
-Space is limited, so register early!

CORE Academy is an educational and explorative opportunity for Senior aged youth to gain awareness to an assortment of possible careers. For 2026, the CORE Academy will explore the Texas Panhandle and will explore a variety of careers of hospitality, tourism, manufacturing, culinary arts, agriculture & natural resources, marketing & more.
